
Kathmandu, August 8: The discussion on the bill related to transitional justice started on Thursday in the parliamentary committee of the federal parliament. The chairperson of the committee, Bimala Subedi, said that the discussion on the bill, which has been stalled for a long time in the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee under the House of Representatives, is being discussed from today.
The report given by the sub-committee and the draft agreement between the top leaders will be discussed. By incorporating the subcommittee’s report and the issues resolved by the three-party mechanism, the committee is preparing to approve the “Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act Amendment Bill”.
The committee has prepared a draft of the bill with the agreement reached in the sub-committee and to pass it today after discussion. According to Chairman Subedi, after the committee passes the bill, it will be submitted in the next parliament meeting. The next meeting of the House of Representatives will be held on August 15.
