
Kathmandu, August 8: The government has requested the Oman government to establish its embassy in Kathmandu. Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal made such a request in a meeting with senior Omani officials in Muscat on Wednesday.
In the first meeting of the Nepal-Oman bilateral consultation mechanism, Foreign Secretary Lamsal stated that more than 21 thousand Nepalis are working in Oman and said that it is necessary to cooperate in areas of mutual interest.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Muscat, all aspects of Nepal-Oman relations were discussed in the meeting. Both sides discussed cooperation and partnership since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1977, exchange of high-level visits, trade, investment, economic cooperation, agriculture, energy, tourism, labor, foreign employment, culture, education, direct air links, etc. They have agreed to cooperate in the field.
In the meeting, both parties also agreed to enhance people-to-people relations and use opportunities for economic benefits for mutual benefit.
