Major political parties agree on TRC bill
Kathmandu, August 1: The major parties reached an agreement on the truth and reconciliation bill today.
Leaders from three political parties – Nepali Congress, UML and Maoist Center and chairman of the committee for laws reached an agreement to resolve the disputed issues.
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak said that the concerned parties have reached an agreement on defining the murder cases that took place during the conflict era.
In cases related to violation of human rights, it has been agreed to take the consent of the victims before the agreement.
Accordingly, the cases of murder or killing of the security personnel during the conflict period will be defined as victim and their families will be compensated accordingly.
The Ministry for Law and Justice will give the final shape to the draft and submitted to the senior leaders of the political parties before tabling it to the House.
