The mass circulation India Today fortnightly magazine has, in a special report on the current Nepalese political scene following the dissolution of the House of Representatives, concluded that "on its six-month long performance “the UML has a” good chance of coming back to power with a strong majority.” In its July 15 issue, India Today has  also maintained that the Nepali Congress, "caught on the wrong foot by the sudden dissolution of Parliament”, could ”lose more ground in the coming polls” despite the fact that it is “trying very hard to build up movement by holding protest rallies and working out poll strategies.” People’s Review, 20 July 1995.
