Kathmandu, July 31: President Ramchandra Paudel, following the government recommendation, has assigned Gen Ashok Sigdel as the acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) effective from August 9.
CoAS Gen Prabhuram Sharma is retiring on September 9 and staying on leave for one month from August 9 following the Nepal Army tradition.
After Gen Sharma goes on a month-long leave, Gen Sigdel will command the Nepal Army in the capacity of the acting chief of the Nepal Army and become the new CoAS after Gen Sharma’s retirement.
