
Kathmandu, July 30: The cabinet meeting held on Monday has removed three provincial chiefs and appointed three new chiefs.
Dipak Prakash Devkota has been assigned as the new province chief of Bagmati, Krishna Bahadur Gharti Magar chief of Lumbini, and Yagya Raj Joshi chief of Karnali. They will replace Yadav Sharma, Amik Sherchan, and Tilak Pariyar, appointed under the Maoist Centre quota.
Accordingly, Ashok Sigdel, lieutenant general of the Nepal Army, has been appointed as the acting chief of the Nepal Army. Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma is retiring on September 9, and Sigdel, the incumbent chief of the general staff, will become the army chief on September 10.
One month before retirement, CoAS Sharma will stay on leave and Sigdel will take the Army command as acting CoAS.
