Kathmandu, July 24: A Saurya Airlines aircraft with call sign No 9 N AME met an accident immediately after it took off from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 11 am today. The aircraft caught fire after it fell towards the Eastern part of the Airport.

According to the Airport Police, 18 dead bodies have been recovered from the spot.

The aircraft was bound for Pokhara with a technical team for its maintenance at Pokhara International Airport.

One member, Captain Manish Shakya, of the cabin crew is rescued alive, according to the Police.

After the accident, the Airport remained closed.
