
Kathmandu, July 22: Noted hotelier and owner of the Shangri-La Hotel, Shyam Bahadur Pandey passed away at 11 am today.
Pandey, 90, has been survived by his wife, sons Prasiddha Bahadur Pandey and Prabin Bahadur Pandey and a daughter.
Pandey was suffering from alzheimer for a long time. A few days ago, he was admitted to the Grande Hospital for treatment.
Pandey’s dead body will be kept at his residence in Basundhara for some time and at 3 pm, his last rites are being performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat, according to the family source.
The late Pandey was the founder of the Hotel Shangri-La. Pandey had also established star hotels in Pokhara and Chitwan.
Former chairman of the Hotel Association of Nepal, Pandey, was honoured with different international awards.
