Kathmandu, July 20: A search and rescue team from India has arrived in Nepal to search for two buses and passengers missing in the Trishuli River due to a landslide at Simaltal of Chitwan along the Naragangadh-Muglin Road section.

A 12-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) of the Government of India has arrived in Nepal for the search and rescue of the Simaltal incident, said Anil Pokharel, executive chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. According to him, the team that entered Nepal via the Sunauli border last night reached the spot this morning after staying in Bhairahawa.

Executive Chief Pokharel said that the team started search work from today.

They have come with a set of equipment used in the underwater search. They have also brought three state-of-the-art sonar devices. They are reaching the spot along with a team of the Armed Police. According to Pokharel, the government has called for an international rescue team to search for the buses after Nepali team failed to ascertain the condition of the buses. The Ministry of Home Affairs had called for an Indian rescue team through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
