Kathmandu, July 20: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of the Nepal Army, Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma, should stay on a one-month leave from August 9 before his compulsory retirement on September 10.
Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the Nepali Army (NA) Ashok Raj Sigdel Chhetri may assume as the acting CoAS after Gen. Sharma goes on a month-long leave.
After the retirement of Gen Sharma in September, Gen Sigdel may assume office as the new CoAS.
In the Nepali Army, it is customary for the outgoing CoAS to stay for a month-long leave before retirement.
If CGS Sigdel is assigned the new CoAS, he will command the Nepali Army for the next three years.
