Kathmandu, July 18: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to seek a confidence motion from the House of Representatives on Sunday, July 21.
This is the fourth time PM Oli has assumed the office as the 45th Prime Minister of the country.
Out of the 275 MPs in Parliament, the Nepali Congress has 88 MPs, whereas, the UML has 79 MPs and it is sure that Oli will get votes from the two parties. , However, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, who is from UML cannot vote. Also, one MP from UML is sick and may not take part in the voting. Meanwhile, one MP from UMLUML, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, is under judicial custody and is suspended, therefore, he cannot vote.
Besides, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party with 14 seats may vote for Oli. The Janata Samajwadir Party with seven MPs will also vote for PM Oli. Also, the Janamat Party with six MPs may also vote for Oli.
Although Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal with five seats has not joined the government, it may support Oli. As Loktantrik Samajwadi Party with four seats has already joined the government, it is sure it will also vote for Oli. Accordingly, independent MPs Yogendra Mandal and Amrishkumar Singh may also vote for Oli.
The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and Janata Samajwadi Party have joined the government and they are going to vote for Oli. Moreover, JSP Nepal and Nagarik Unmukti Party have not joined the government, yet, the leaders have assured to vote for Oli.
It is believed that the Maoist Center led by Pushpakamal Dahal with 32 MPs, Rastriya Swatantra Party led by Rabi Lamichhane with 23 MPs, Ekikrit Samajwadi Party led by Madhav Nepal with 10 MPs are not going to vote for Oli. Accordingly, the Aam Janata Party with one MP and Rastriya Janamorcha with one MP may vote against Oli.
The Nepal Majdoor Kishan Party with one vote may stay indifferent during the voting.
