Kathmandu, July 18: Locals in Chitwan have set fire to a vehicle suspecting that it belonged to the railways survey team. Locals seized the vehicle of the RH Consultancy which reached Krishnapur of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 7 on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson of District Police Office Chitwan, DSP Bhesraj Rijal, said that after taking control, they set fire to the vehicle.
According to DSP Rijal, when they reached Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality Ward No. 7 Krishnapur on Wednesday morning, the locals took them under control. It is said that during the survey, around 300 local people gathered and took control of the team.
The fire in the vehicle was extinguished by the fire brigade of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality. The fire in the carriage has been brought under control.
The local residents have been conducting a phased struggle program saying that the east-west railway line passes through various densely populated wards of Bharatpur.
Moreover, reports state that it was not a railways survey team but a Google team taking photographs to place on the Google map.
