People’s Review has completed 33 years of its publication from this week. We wish to share with our readers and well-wishers that the Audit Bureau of Circulation has categorized the publication as an “A” class newspaper. Moreover, among the weekly publishing from Nepal, People’s Review is the only English weekly newspaper ranked in the “A” category. Our international reach has become wider as we are on the Internet and we are updating the latest reports and developments in the country. Besides, we have the world-reputed distributors <pressreader.com> and <asianet.com> for years which have significantly contributed to widening our international reach.
When we started the journey, we had a mission to strengthen Nepali sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. We are in our mission today as well. Understandably, the mottos that appear on our masthead “Let Nepal Be Nepal”, and “Say No to Foreign Interference and Intermediation,” speak a lot about the team’s mission. Surely, a section of foreign-paid people may not like us, nevertheless, a large section of people who love their motherland have commended our work and they are our real strength.
We believe the present constitution imposed on us is not functional and will not benefit the nation and the Nepali people. Now, it has been proved that those actors, who were active in the promulgation of the constitution, drafted in the Western interests, have felt the necessity for an amendment of the constitution. Still, those political actors are trying to deceive the motherland and the Nepali people. Some amendments in the constitution are not enough as we needed to overhaul it by disposing of federalism, secularism and republicanism.
We see flourishing perversion in all sectors. Foreign-paid traitors, mercenaries and kleptocrats have become strong and they are involved in daylight loot in the country. Unless we defeat them, the nation cannot become strong. The need of the hour is to launch a decisive struggle against those enemies of the country strongly present in society. This is possible only after developing a broader unification among the patriotic groups.
We believe that if the present political system is prolonged, the nation is going to fall into a serious debt trap as every month the government is taking debt to manage its general sector expenditure. The nation is unable to clear around 60 billion rupees worth of dues of the construction companies, which has contributed to the present economic recession in the country. The foreign-paid political leaders adopted an expensive political system and even after imposing a high rate of taxation in every sector, the government is unable to manage the necessary revenue to meet the expenditure. The government is not able to manage capital sector expenditure. When the general sector expenditure dominates the capital sector expenditure, it is sure that the nation’s economy is not moving forward in the right course. Besides, the non-visionary political actors have politicized and ruined all the constitutional bodies and important organs by recruiting party workers and sidelining professional experts in the name of political sharing. All important organs of the government have already been destroyed.
A major operation is needed to remove the present anomalies witnessed in all sectors. This is essential to save Nepal and, without any delay, all the patriotic forces should come down to the streets to save Nepal.
