The main opposition CPN (UML) may demand that Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala face a confidence motion if no side can muster the support of 103 MPs because of abstentions in the no-confidence vote that will come up next week in the special session of parliament that commences today.
The UML, which has moved the no-confidence motion, is required to muster the support of 103 MPs in order to bring down the government of Prime Minister Koirala. But this is not possible without a number of MPs from the rulling Congress party voting against their own Prime Minister.
