BABBLES

By Babbler Presently, Kathmandu has become the most polluted city in the globe. The city is inclined to the No. 2 position among the most polluted cities. The country is not solely responsible for the air pollution, as we share the air coming from India and the air pollution in India has contributed to polluting our air. Nevertheless, wildfires in Nepali forests have also contributed to polluting our air. Wildfires could be controlled by mobilizing local bodies and also constructing wildfire control lines in forests. The villagers’ mentality is that after setting fire to the forest, the soil will become fertile. Therefore, villagers and farmers set fire to forests. This mentality has to be changed by properly convincing them. Also, if they do not obey, a heavy financial punishment system should be introduced so that the villagers and farmers will stop such activities. Unfortunately, those people in the government have no time to think about such problems. Clean Bagmati Bagmati has turned into an open drainage. The government has already spent trillions of rupees on cleaning the Bagmati River, with the plan of bringing the river back to its previous form. Thousands of volunteers have contributed their labor to cleaning Bagmati. Yet, the river is very dirty. The local authorities have requested the locals not to dispose of the waste in the river, yet, the locals don’t listen. The only way to stop disposing of the waste could be a heavy penalty against those who disobey the request. We talk about democracy but we are unable to maintain it properly as our nature is to violate democratic norms. To bring such acts under control, the local authorities should introduce a mechanism of heavy punishment; otherwise, we cannot get clean rivers. Where are we? China is in a race to become the largest economy. India has claimed that it will emerge as the third-largest economy soon. Meanwhile, Nepal lies in between the two nations and the country is facing a very negative economic performance. Political leaders are always fighting for power and their ultimate goal has become to enjoy power. They don’t look after making the economy prosperous. Moreover, they are seeking opportunities to exploit government funds. Having such leaders greedy for money, the nation’s economy is not going to become prosperous. Political leaders themselves are found being involved in gold smuggling, grabbing the government land, sending Nepalis to America under the cover of fake Bhutanese refugees, misusing government funds while purchasing wide-body aircraft, etc. scams. Is there any ground to trust those leaders? QUOTES OF THE WEEK Republicanism, secularism and federalism have been imposed in the plan of foreigners. Even the leaders of the big parties have understood the fact that this artificial system has been proven to be a failure. It cannot be done without building an all-encompassing system for Nepal to move forward as a self-respecting, independent and strong nation. Ananda Adhikari India stopped military supplies to King Gyanendra. The leaders travelled to New Delhi from Kathmandu. A twelve-point agreement was inked between the seven political parties and the Maoists. After the Maoist leaders surrendered their weapons, King Gyanendra was removed according to the pre-plan developed by New Delhi. Kamla Koirala “Prachanda” is such a leader that if he feels the path he has taken will not be beneficial for the country, he may reverse the establishment of republicanism, federalism and secularism and 'rebuild' Nepali politics, religion, culture and society. Rabindra Mishra The electoral system should be reformed for political stability. Chandra Bhandari While extending greetings of the new year, President Ramchandra Paudel has urged those who have gone abroad to return to their country. His son is in the UK with the illegal wealth accumulated by approving the anti-national Mahakali Treaty, citizenship bill, etc.. Suggested watching his face in the mirror. Arjun Gyawali Even in neighboring India, businessmen are not involved in banks, so it is imperative to separate bankers and businessmen in Nepal too, otherwise, the businessmen will not stop misusing the deposits of common people in banks. Ratna Sansar Shrestha The paddy production will not increase just by celebrating the Mud Festival on Asar 15, in the same way, organizing the investment summit will not bring investment in Nepal. What is the environment in which investment can be made within the country? Surya Raj Acharya
