CIAA finds abusing Rs 1.47 billion while purchasing two wide-body aircraft
Kathmandu, April 5: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case at the Special Court against officials involved in purchasing two wide-body aircraft.
The CIAA filed the case on Thursday, April 4.
The CIAA has claimed compensation worth Rs 1.47 billion from those involved in the purchase deal.
Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) purchased two wide-body aircraft by creating different companies abroad with the plan of overvaluing the price of the aircraft.
Those officials and businessmen, including the then Minister for Tourism Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, the then Managing Director of NAC, Sugat Ratna Kansakar, the then tourism secretary Shankar Adhikari, the then secretary Shishir Kumar Dhungana, joint secretary Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, and also Tek Nath Acharya, Nima Nuru Sherpa, Muktiram Pandey, Jeevan Sitaula, Achyut Raj Pahadi and six other foreign nationals as defendants.
