Sekhar Koirala against present electoral system
Kathmandu, March 31: Nepali Congress leader Sekhar Koirala has opined for amending the electoral system by making the House of Representatives a venue for directly elected members and the National Assembly the venue for members elected through proportional election.
Koirala further said that the Nepali Congress will not develop an election alliance with other political parties in the upcoming elections.
Addressing the 16th anniversary of the BP Memorial Cooperative Hospital on Saturday, from the present electoral system, a single party cannot bag a majority, therefore, the constitution should be amended by making the HoR as the venue of directly elected members.
Koirala also remarked that the TRC Bill should be based on the international practices on human rights and also the verdicts of the Supreme Court.
