Car successfully operated from ‘green hydrogen’ produced in Nepal
Kathmandu, March 31: The test operation of vehicles using 'green hydrogen' (hydroelectricity with water treatment) produced in Nepal has been successful.
The hydrogen refilling station successfully tested at Kathmandu University (KU) on Sunday, Birajsingh Thapa informed.
After two years of continuous research, the test work of using hydrogen fuel in cars has become successful," Thapa said.
Today, the hydrogen produced by the refilling station installed at the university was used in the car.
With the successful testing of the station, a car was able to run for the first time with green hydrogen produced in Nepal. According to Thapa, a car that runs on green hydrogen is different from other cars.
He informed that as the test operation of the vehicle used by hydrogen produced in Nepal has succeeded, it has now been confirmed that it can be taken into commercial production as well.
"Just as EVs are produced, hydrogen vehicles are also produced separately," he said.
According to Prof Dr Thapa, green hydrogen has been advanced all over the world as an alternative to petroleum products, which can also operate 'heavy vehicles' like buses and trucks.
