
Kathmandu, March 18: Pokhara, a beautiful tourist destination of the country, has been declared the tourism capital of Nepal.
Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal declared the city the tourism capital amidst a function in Pokhara on Sunday, March 17.
On the occasion, a noted folk singer presented his popular song “Galbandi Chhyatiyo” and PM Dahal danced on the stage. Chief Minister Surendra Pandey, ex-chief minister Khagaraj Adhikari, and mayor, Dhanraj Acharya supported PM Dahal in dancing.
PM Dahal, unveiling a pillar, declared Pokhara the tourism capital.
On the occasion, PM Dahal said that soon international flights will resume from the Pokhara International airport.
PM Dahal also said that he is making efforts to convert the loan taken for the construction of the airport into a grant.
To note, Nepal has taken a soft loan from China for the construction of the airport.
Along with the announcement of the tourism capital, mayor Acharya announced the 24-hour operation of the main markets, including the Lakeside area.
Mayor Acharya hoped that tourist flow would increase after the declaration of Pokhara as the tourism capital.
