Kathmandu, March 15: Finance Minister Barshman Pun today directed the high officials of the Ministry along with Revenue Secretary Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire to manage procedures for instantly paying the dues of the dairy farmers. Before issuing the directive, Minister Pun discussed it with Agriculture Minister Jwalakumari Shah, Agriculture Secretary Dr Govin Prasad Sharma, and Livestock Development Secretary Dr Revathiraman Paudel. When the dairy farmers are not getting paid for the milk, the state cannot sit and watch the suffering of the farmers, said the Minister. “Regardless of the reason that it was stopped in the past, the dues of the farmers will be paid by today or on Sunday", said Pun while giving instructions. He also clarified that the Ministry of Finance will not stop the payment to be received by the construction companies. According to Minister Pun, the payment of the farmers is going to be given by dedication from the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture for the current financial year. The Ministry of Agriculture, which has a budget of Rs 51 billion in the current financial year, has spent only 54 percent of the total budget so far. Minister Pun has requested the agriculture minister and secretaries to correspond today for the dedication of the budget. People’s News Monitoring Service.
