Kathmandu, 4 January: Former King Gyanendra has said that the existence of the country is getting rusty and there is an increasing tendency to look at Nepal with disdainful eyes. He said that in order to build a country, everyone should stand together and get along. Former King Shah, who is on a visit to West Nepal, addressed a civic reception organized in honour of him in Bhairahawa today. Thousands of people reached the civic reception venue in Bhairahawa to greet the former King. They chanted slogans urging the King to come and save the nation. The gathering also condemned the political leaders of the day. He remarked that the country is becoming more dependent and shabby. "The self-respecting Nepalese people feel that they are being looked down upon by everyone and are being humiliated," he said. He said that wherever he goes, he hears the voice, "Let the king come and save the nation!". “Standing here today, I say, I am speaking—I am expressing the long-standing desire of our ancestors to build and save the country.” Former King Shah said that he was observing the sufferings of the people.  “I have not gone anywhere; I am always with Nepali people; I am inside Nepal. I am closely observing the joys, sorrows, inconveniences, obstacles, pains, and current situation of Nepali people," he said. Former King Shah expressed his concern that the country is in a state of disrepair due to unemployment, poverty, educational weakness and forcing young people to go abroad.  "Youths have left the country not because they don’t love the nation but because of the worst situation of the country. This situation must end. A new chapter of employment and entrepreneurship should be started. There should be extensive changes and reforms in today's system that are hollowing out the country" King Gyanendra remarked.
