BABBLES

By Babbler Two foreign job-seeking youths died from the police firing in Balkumari, Lalitpur. The ill-fated youths died when the police wanted to save Minister Prakash Jwala. Minister Jwala wanted to challenge the agitating crowd of about three thousand youths. After the police opened fire, agitated youths set fire to the minister’s vehicle. The public remarks were cruel. “Oh, they committed a mistake”, some social media users remarked. “They should have set ablaze on the vehicle along with the minister”, they have remarked. This Babbler feels sorry to read such a cruel reaction about the political leaders, yet, it is suggested to read such remarks by the political leaders and correct themselves timely. Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal might have gone through such remarks, even paying two million rupees if the public would kill the three top-ranking leaders. Addressing a gathering organized by the Nepali Congress observing the National Reconciliation Day on Monday, 1 June, PM Dahal said, he is doubtful that those protesters could be the people who oppose the present constitution and political system. Be that as it may, the general public is very much furious with the leaders of the day! National Assembly or the assembly of those defeaters The National Assembly has become the venue to manage those political leaders who defeated the general elections in the past. Bamdev Gautam and Narayankaji Shrestha are the examples. Again, the NA elections are taking place to elect 19 members plus one government nominated member. Again, we are informed that there is a strong domination of those defeated candidates knocking doors of the senior party leaders to go to the Parliament. Moreover, Krishna Shitaula, who was defeated in the election with RPP’s Rajendra Lingden, is willing to become the chairman of the National Assembly. Not odd, his dream may come true as he is blessed by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and also by RAW.  The PPA commission rate Independent MP Amreshkumar Singh said that Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal’s men demanded three hundred thousand rupees per MW of the proposed hydropower produced by the private sector just for the power purchase agreement (PPA). Later, when RPP chairman Rajendra Lingden became the energy minister for a short time, he approved PPA without taking a single rupee. Lingden became God for them. Maybe, this is the real face of Maoist Center chair and PM Pushpakamal Dahal! An impossible task Reforms are possible in the educational sector by keeping it aloof from political intervention. Recently, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal said that in his second year in office, he is going to reform the universities. Unfortunately, the power-greedy PM didn’t want to quit the post of TU's chancellor. Academicians were demanding the constitution of a board of trustees, replacing the provision of the PM becoming chancellor, as one major step in the reform of the universities. He disliked it. Every time, we hear from the Opposition to privatize the Gorkhapatra Corporation or run it under a public-private partnership or a cooperative model. When the very Opposition party go to the government, the leaders forget their previous demands. This trend continues forever in this “loottantra”. QUOTES OF THE WEEK Not even a small portion of morality is left in Nepali traditional politics. Self-resignation in unethical politics is unimaginable. Minister Jwala for provoking the Balkumari incident and Minister Kiranti for provoking different communities should be dismissed immediately. The PM and Home Minister should apologize. Sharad Raj Pathak BP's contribution to Nepal and politics is honored by history. But the wealth accumulated by today's BP followers and the disorder caused by it has to be stopped. If the government and parties do not resolve this, what will happen to Nepal? Matrika Poudel Even though the country is facing the gold smuggling scandal, huge corruption scandal, extreme failure of the government, extreme unemployment, extreme inflation, murder and violence, why is the main opposition party, UML, sitting in the direction of ruining the country? Is it not busy baking the bread of its own selfishness together with the ruling party? Omkumar Thapa Look at how difficult it is for the Nepali people -- to feed their leaders and their families and their poor brothers and sisters are compelled to go abroad for jobs. Sheet Kumar Malla Thakuri The republic of Nepal is a republic where instead of providing employment, it sends heaven to those who are willing to go abroad for employment. We Nepalese are forced to watch such a pathetic scene. We are learning that the lives of those killed are worth just 10 lakh rupees. Dwarika Nath Dhungel A weak country's foreign relations will never be strong. Rajesh Ahiraj Only those political parties that benefited from the present system, are advocating for it, however, they are unable to justify it from any angle. The debt burden is continuously increasing and the nation has been ruined to a greater extent, yet, the leaders are praising republicanism and federalism. Kamal Karki In Nepal, the king should remain a symbol of nationalism and working together with the king will benefit democracy. Prakash Koirala Youths have not migrated abroad, they have been kicked out of the country by those rulers of the day. Keshav P. Bhattarai
