Former King unveils Prithivi Narayan Shah’s statue in Kapilvastu
Kathmandu, 30 December: Former King Gyanendra has unveiled the newly constructed statue of Great King Prithivi Narayan Shah at the Khairendrapur Square in Shivaraj Municipality. Kapilvastu.
The statue was constructed at a cost of 2.5 million rupees.
Ajaya Thapa, the mayor, who represents the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, had managed funding for the construction of the statue.
The King was welcomed by locals at Khairendrapur and also in Dohani, Gaidahawa, Bahadurgunj, among other places, on the way to Khairendrapur.
Earlier, before unveiling the statue, the King had performed a special pooja at the Swargadwar Ashram in Balhansha Shangadev Gurukul in Khairendrapur.
Local people had also organized a civic reception in honour of the former King.
Moreover, locals in Bhairahawa have scheduled to organize a civic reception programme in honour of the King on 4 January 2024.
