Nepal-China Friendship Society urges for immediate implementation of BRI
Kathmandu, 9 December: The Nepal-China Friendship Society, headquarters in Lumbini, has urged the government to implement the Belt and Roar Initiative (BRI) as soon as possible.
The 22nd General Assembly of the Society has passed a proposal urging the government to implement the BRI as soon as possible, as the initiative is to contribute to the country’s economic prosperity.
Accordingly, the Society’s general assembly has endorsed the proposal for the Nepal government to maintain “one China policy” in words and deeds as well.
Zheng Xi, chief priest of the China Temple in Lumbini, asked the government for easy access to the Buddhist pilgrimages to Lumbini. He said that there are a large number of Buddhist followers in China and they want to visit Lumbini.
He remarked that if the Chinese Buddhists’ flow increased in Nepal, it would enormously contribute to the flourishing tourism business here.
Narayan Prasad Sapkota, chairman of the Society, said that hundreds of thousands of Chinese Buddhists are eager to visit Lumbini. The visit of a large number of Buddhist pilgrimages to Nepal would boost tourism in the country. Therefore, the government should keep priority for the construction of the Kerung-Kathmandu Railway.
Sapkota said that China is a good and cooperative country for Nepal.
The Nepal government should win the confidence of China and use the Chinese support for the economic development of the country, he said.
