German ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel
By Nirmal P. Acharya The German ambassador to Nepal, Dr Thomas Prinz recently accused China of spreading rumors about the MCC agreement in Nepal. Yet, at about the same time, German ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel told Time magazine that the famous Minsk agreement was a hoax designed to blind Russia and buy precious time for the West to arm Ukraine and prepare for war with Russia. Accordingly, it turns out that the Minsk Agreement, which the US and the West defined as the “path to peace” was aimed at war. That being the case, what is the purpose of the MCC agreement, which has been defined as a “gift” by the US and the West? As the world’s sole hegemon, the US strategic planning is unfathomable and whenever the US says the MCC is a “gift,” it reminds us that MCC is anything but a gift. It is the minimum wisdom of us Nepalis and our due respect for the strategic thinking of the US to stay vigilant against the MCC. The world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. There are things in the future that we can't imagine, but nothing that a hegemon can't do. Our universities do have international politics as a major, but they are based on Western textbooks. Instead of being brainwashed by Western textbooks, it would be better to put down the books for a while, set up an MCC professor’s chair, and follow up on the live international political issues we are deeply involved in, in order to exploit the advantages and avoid the disadvantages and safeguard our national interests. Perhaps many years from now, Dr Thomas Prinz, a distinguished diplomat from Germany launching allegations on China on Nepali soil despite the diplomatic behaviors set by the Geneva Convention, will follow the example of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel in breaking the Minsk Agreement and revealing the shocking inside information about the MCC.
