BABBLES

By Babbler Nepalis elect their leaders but the leaders need foreigners’ blessings to become the PM. This is not said by this Babbler but by our leader Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda. Perhaps, he is in a race to please the foreign bosses! The Indians are encroaching on the Mahakali River and constructing a retaining wall pushing the natural flow of the Mahakali River towards Nepal but the government is unaware of the incident. Maybe, due to the fear of losing the blessings from their Indian bosses, they have remained silent on this incident. In this loktantra, we all have become the foreign puppet, even though, we feel proud! Farmer friendly government  The present coalition government is heavily dominated by leaders who prefer to say themselves, communists. Communists should be friendly to the peasants and labourers. But our communist leaders are friendly to the business brokers and commission agents and act against the farmers and labourers. For decades, the same reports are being appeared in newspapers that farmers are facing acute shortages of fertilizer. The government is unable to manage a smooth supply of fertilizer to our farmers. This is the paddy-selling season for the farmers. The government has a programme to procure paddy from farmers by setting a ceiling of a minimum price. The government set the ceiling but has not yet started procuring the paddy directly from the farmers. The farmers are thus compelled to sell their paddy to businessmen at low prices. Later, the government officials will procure paddy from the businessmen. Still, we believe, the communists are in power! Squatter politics We believe, the squatter problem in Nepal is a never-ending problem. Naive Balen Shah attempted to bulldoze the squatters' illegally occupied huts at the Bagmati River Bank in Thapathali. This area is a valuable place having a current market price worth ten million rupees per aana of land. Even if one squatter family has occupied four aana of land there, it costs 40 million rupees. By spending this much amount, one can purchase a nice house inside the housing complex. According to reports, some squatters have their buildings in Kathmandu and some are the parents of those kids who are in foreign countries. Different political parties, mainly the communists, have given protection to those who have illegally occupied precious land. The idea of distributing land to the squatters is wrong. The government, instead of providing them land, should ensure jobs and they can procure land if they wish. The idea of each family having a house is not the priority. Such an idea encourages investment in the non-productive sector and also land prices will jump. The land is very important for the nation. If the government will not make efforts to save land, all the agricultural land will be converted into a housing area. All jungles will be destroyed inviting natural disasters. Let the political parties end the politics of squatters and resolve the squatters’ issue not by giving land and house but by giving them jobs. Otherwise, every year, more squatters will appear in the country.  QUOTES OF THE WEEK
  • The ruling coalition did not get a majority means that the people have ordered not to continue the same coalition. The same alliance is not the people’s mandate. Will the newly elected MPs stop the way of valueless politics?

  • Dhanraj Gurungji would walk with the black mark of "booth capturing" throughout his life. Gurung received the vote of the persons to whom he had paid tribute upon their death. This is shameful and an insult to the loktantra.

  • Buying petroleum products from India at a constantly decreasing price, however, the concerned authority is not ready to adjust the price by pretending that the Oil Corporation is at a loss! There is a need to stand united against the looting trend of giving bonuses and allowances to employees. Let's start a movement soon.

  • If someone got a lottery in the election, then this is Madhav Nepal and his party. Believe it or not, he actually won 10 seats because of the coalition. The rest is accounted for by the bare mathematics of proportional votes the party has received.

  • Now if we do nothing there will be no peace in Nepal. It is over. The fire lit by Prachanda and Baburam is extinguished here and there, it burns here and there. Now there left no flower garden of four castes and thirty-six communities, Nepal has become a battlefield of four parties and thirty-six groups.
