Kathmandu, 5 December: India is one-sidedly constructing embankments in the Bangabagad region to divert the flow of the Mahakali River towards Nepal's Darchula. Although construction of the embankment has started in Nepal causing damage, the local administration and Nepal government are silent. However, the residents of Darchula have repeatedly raised their voices not to build embankments that would change the course of the river. On Sunday, local residents protested against India's use of force. They asked India to stop building the embankment. Tensions arose when the Indian side constructed an embankment by using gabion nets in the middle of the Mahakali River. At the same time, stone pelting took place between the citizens of both countries. Premsingh Kunwar and Pushkarsingh of Darchula were injured by stones. Some Indian citizens were also injured.
