Yug Pathak had contested the election for the member of the House of Representatives from the No 5 electoral constituency in Jhapa. He had announced that he would defeat K.P. Oli but he has bagged just 356 votes.
There is no need to give Pathak’s introduction as we know he is a man who hates this country, Nepal’s national flag and Nepal’s founder Great King Prithivi Narayan Shah.
In short, he is a well-known traitor and mercenary working in the foreigners’ interests!
A mini referendum
We all know, Krishna Shitaula was instrumental in declaring Nepal a secular federal republic. Shitaula was closely associated with the Indian intelligence agency RAW. Under the foreign mission, Shitaula imposed republicanism, federalism and secularism. Still, Dr Sekhar Koirala is surprised as when the statement was drafted in Baluatar when Girija Prasad Koirala was the PM, secularism and republicanism were not included there. From where and how secularism and republicanism were included in the draft, Sekhar is unknown.
Sitaula contested the election for the member of parliament from Jhapa constituency No 3 but he was defeated by Rajendra Lingden, who is backing the agenda of the Hindu kingdom and the end of provincial structures. Lingden’s victory over Sitaula is thus considered a mini referendum on the “loktantra”.
Madhav Nepal votes on "sun"
Time and again, when he was addressing the party assembly, was found asking voters to vote for UML and the election symbol "sun". Sure, it was a tong slip and he had later corrected to vote for his party Unified Socialist.
Old habits die hard. Since the UML took part in the Nepali elections, always, Madhav has voted for the "sun". Now, perhaps, it became difficult for his party workers and him for casting vote in another election symbol.
It is said that Madhav had voted for "sun" and later disqualified the ballot paper.
Be that as it may, with the support of other partners, the Unified Socialist Party was able to bag a minimum of 10 seats through the FPTP voting but the real strength of the party is seen from the proportional votes that the party has bagged.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
- The current politics of the country is unlikely to be improved! What message are our top leaders trying to convey to the common people through this kind of news? People will say 'spit'! However, how can the country get rid of this level of 'lameness' prevalent in current politics?
Surya Raj Acharya, development expert
- We really are weird. The election results gave some new faces and opportunities for youth to be represented. Although few in number, some of the bad guys have been stopped, however, those who are bent on looting and exploiting the country in an organized manner are saying that this result will bring instability and chaos.
Bhimarjun Acharya, senior advocate and an constitutional expert
*Kamal Thapa, former president of RPP, suffered the most shameful defeat in this election.
Lingden had still respected him even after Thapa lost the post of party chairman, and now he would have been a member of parliament if he had been ranked third after Pashupati Shamser and Prakash Lohani.
And his political journey was never-ending.
Madhav Acharya, senior journalist
- The government is taking five million dollars in foreign aid to give 'training' to MPs! In a country that can spend billions of rupees on elections, taking that amount in the name of 'training' MPs is a move to put the core of politics under external influence.
Bhim Rawal, UML leader
- Prithvi Narayan Shah, who founded Nepal, and Janga Bahadur Rana, who made the most memorable contribution to the stability of Nepal, did not see the school. The contribution made by King Mahendra, who did not attend college, to the promotion of nationalism as well as the development of the country is memorable in history.
Devprakash Tripathi, senior journalist
- The second general election under the Barnashankar political system introduced by the 2015 constitution has ended. The system is aimed at making the country bankrupt. Moreover, it will contribute to instability, corruption, foreign control and the continuation of the state towards ruining the country!
Kamal Prasad Koirala, political analyst
- Rajendra Lingden is the man of the election as he had said at the time when he was leaving the Parliament in opposition to the preparations to extend the tenure of the Parliament, “The next time, I will not come alone!”
He has fulfilled his commitment.
Sushil Panta
- Congress and UML have defied loktantra through alliances and coordination. They have practised the politics of prohibition, they have interfered with the sovereign rights of the people, and they have held political principles and ethics hostage.
Shambhu Chouhan
Most people do not like the provincial structure at all. The provincial structure is just a conspiracy to exploit the national treasure by the party leaders.
Let us continue to put pressure on the new parliament to raise the voice for amending the constitution to abolish the provincial structure.
Omkumar Thapa
After the general election in 2022, the foreign interference market is heated up pending the formation of a new government in Nepal. Media reports are full of Indian diplomats’ manoeuvring -- talks with politicians in the power corridor. They do not stop here. Because India is there, they must bring in China. Why should then the US be left out? As if, Nepal politics is for foreign service, and Nepal has no self-politics; bringing in all foreign is the media’s political balancing feat.
Upendra Gautam, development expert
- It will be fatal for Congress and UML to compete with each other by carrying Maoist extremists and casteists.
Arjun Gyawali
- It has been 16 years since the country was declared a republic but a sustainable government could not be formed, and still cannot be formed. The more instability will boost the more corruption.
Raz khadka
Noida and JNU were the showing teeth of Raw. The Indian brokers of Nepal were hiding the IB behind the screen by showing the formers on the screen. The Royal Palace episode and Maoist episode were the Gadwhali youth’s grand design, which was commanded by Ashok Mehta.
Hasta Gurung, senior journalist
Thousands of Ukrainians have been sacrificed on the wish of a clown to join NATO.
Nepal has also joined the Indo-Pacific military alliance for the lure of 100 million dollars annually.
Let's hope our fate will not be like that.
Ratna Sansar Shrestha, political analyst
- In the current world scenario, Ukraine has become an unfortunate example of how a leadership that is excited and misguided in foreign relations decisions can ruin a country of even a small size. In this matter, it seems that Nepali people should also be cautious with current politics and some characters.
Surya Raj Acharya
- 75 constituencies were sufficient for Nepal. But the immediate "Big Leaders of the Big Party" created many constituencies with a small number of voters for the prospect of winning the election by swinging 3/5 thousand votes. And thus the election result is random.
The 'match fixing' strategy was already decided.
Muma Ram Khanal, political analyst
- If the ruling parties agree to abolish federalism, secularism and republicanism, then RPP may join the government, otherwise, the leadership must have understood.
Shambhu Chouhan
- Other than that, why it became a compulsion for this parasite called Maoist sometimes take the UML side and sometimes the Congress side? Why couldn't it fight alone and show its true size?
