Kathmandu, 4 November: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is planning to issue digital currency within the present fiscal year i.e. by July 2023. As the central banks in foreign countries are issuing digital currency and recently the Indian Central Reserve Bank also issued digital currency, NRB is also under pressure for issuing the digital currency, known as CBDC.  NRB has already conducted a feasibility study and presently consulting with the concerned organizations for circulating CBDC in the market.  The Indian Reserve Bank has recently issued CBDC on an experimental basis.  The use of CBDC will replace paper currency in circulation, from which the currency printing cost can be reduced.  People’s News Monitoring Service
