By Nirmal P. Acharya A series of explosions and subsequent gas leaks occurred on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipelines on 26 September 2022. Considering the scale of the operation on multiple sites and the amount of explosives involved, sabotage seems certain. Many suggest the involvement of the United States because Washington had a motive and the ability as it wants to sell more costly American Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to Europe. Paradoxically, Fox News television personality Tucker Carlson also implied a US role in the explosions. Even if no one can prove it, the US, as the world's only superpower and the world's policeman, bears an inescapable responsibility for the explosion that broke the bottom line of the international social order and opened the Pandora's Box of mutual harm between human beings. Despite being located in the remote corner of Eurasia and the hinterland of the Himalayas, Nepal can sense the multiple gas leaks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia to Europe at this moment. Today, when you walk through the streets of Kathmandu, you can easily feel the smoke of another incoming war as MCC has entered Nepal in a way that breached Nepal's sovereignty and is now operating in a way that is not regulated by the Nepalese government and not subject to Nepalese laws. The US has openly declared China as its biggest threat and will do anything to get at China, including using the cover of the MCC to launch attacks. China is on the defensive, but it is not powerless to fight back. China and the US have played many tricks in the Taiwan Strait, South China Sea, Northeast Asia and Central Asia. Unfortunately, Nepal is now likely to become a battleground for a fierce US-China confrontation. According to the recent official news, the China-Nepal railway project will also be substantively launched in Nepal this year under an agreement reached between the governments of China and Nepal. Accordingly, in the near future, with China's infrastructure capabilities, the China-Nepal railway will cross the Himalayas and reach Nepal, just like the Nord Stream gas pipeline crosses the Baltic Sea to Germany. But frightfully, is it not possible that a State not be happy about it and take the opportunity to blow up the China-Nepal railway, just like the Nord Stream gas pipeline?
