Kathmandu, 23 September: Five writ petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court demanding authentication of the 'Bill designed to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063. Advocates Sagar Baral, Sunilaranjan Singh,  Dev Sharma and others have filed a writ against the President's Office, according to Supreme Spokesperson Bimal Paudal. "Mainly, writs have come demanding the certification of the Citizenship Bill and hearing on them all  has been fixed for today," he shared. The petitioners have  argued  that the Constitution has been violated with the President not certifying the Citizenship Bill passed by the Federal Parliament (House of Representatives and the National Assembly) for the second time. Clause (4) of Article 113 of the Constitution stipulates that the President shall certify a bill within 15 days of its submission after it has been resubmitted by the government.
