Kathmandu, 18 September: The government has recalled all the security personnel except Prosomal Security Officer (PSO) deployed to protect suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, who was ready to return to the Supreme Court this morning as the term of the parliament that tried to impeach him expired. But the government has put him and his family under house arrest. The 'VVIP' car used in formal functions has also been withdrawn.

After Rana and his daughter said that they were under house arrest, the National Human Rights Commission team reached Baluwatar afternoon and took stock about the situation. The Commission has objected to the house arrest of Rana and urged the government to respect personal freedom, freedom of movement and right to privacy guaranteed by the constitution.
Meanwhile, an official at the Ministry of Home Affairs has clarified that Rana did not get the facility as he had been suspended from the post of Chief Justice. "There should have been withdrawal earlier but it was delayed," he said.
