BABBLES

By Babbler When the Nepali communists find the taste of power, they become more feudal than the feudal class people, No 1 enemy of the communists. Jivanram Shrestha is one among them. When a security guard, Sherjuung Gurung asked the minister to wait for his turn in the queue, Minister Shrestha became furious and asked the Police to keep the guard under police custody. The Police, following the Minister’s order, immediately arrested Gurung, who was doing his duty. When Minister Shrestha’s act was condemned by all sectors, he was finally forced to ask the Home Minister to release the security guard. Shrestha, so far, has not regretted his act performed as a communist leader. Indeed, they all are fake communists who are intended to exploit people in the name of ending exploitation. They are very much corrupt people organising daylight loot. In fact, they have become ministers for extorting money illegally. People’s power After strong opposition from the society, the government, which had planned to extend the tenure of the House of Representatives and also the province assemblies until the first meeting of the newly elected parliament and provincial assemblies, the government has decided to take back the proposal registered in Parliament. This is called people’s power, which compelled the government to take back its decision. Except for exploiting the government coffer, running parliament even after the announcement of the election date is a funny idea. However, in this loktantra, such funny things are possible. Meanwhile, at least there was one MP, Rajendra Lingden, who felt that he should not be involved in such an unethical and unconstitutional act. He announced his resignation from the present position and also announced that he is not going to take salary and allowances from the government for the remaining period. In this loot-tantra, at least, some people still abided by morale. Gundaraj in Nepal We had the opportunity to see the list of candidates recommended by the local units of different political parties. Most of the recommended people are the very old faces we saw before. More interestingly, we saw the names of those people who are facing jail terms on murder charges, who are known to be criminals and who are known to be Gundas. One gentleman observed it would be a foolish idea to seek good persons as our candidates in this Gundaraj. Of course, he is true. Suspended CJ Rana’s statement The suspended chief justice of the Supreme Court, Cholendra Shumsher Rana has openly exposed those people involved in rampant corruption. He disclosed that being afraid of the possible court verdict against Madhav Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai, overnight, an impeachment case was filed against him. He also blamed the setting in the court – setting in the bench and also in the BAR and the practice of seeking a share in government appointments by the judges and BAR office bearers. Rana is true that the political leaders are corrupt and the court also is corrupt. On the whole, the present system is non-functional, which Rana has disclosed. QUOTES OF THE WEEK In reality, they are the slaves who serve and please their neighbours to oust their own parents from home. Look at the fate of republicanism in Sikkim and Afghanistan! • After the announcement of the election, the government introduced a bill to prolong the life of parliamentarians. There are two principles of the government's work after the announcement of the election date. They are rudimentary principles and minding store principles under which the government should conduct the election successfully by carrying out day-to-day works and protecting the government property. Why does the Nepal government intend to do undigestable things?

  • Why the election is needed? The government constituted by the court can continue the present parliament and province assemblies by cornering K.P. Oli and his party.

  • Say NO to Prachandized-Nepali Congress led by SB Deuba. It surrendered more than 50% of the parliamentary seats to the hard-left and extremists. Support “Democratic NC-Rebels” in the forthcoming election for the sake of democracy.

  • Maoist leader Barshaman Pun said, “We are fed up with Congress, now we need to develop an alliance with UML and contest elections”.

  • Attempts are being made to extend the life of the Parliament, which should have been dissolved automatically after the announcement of the election date. This is contrary to the spirit of the constitution, parliamentary practice, and values. The parliament of any country does not have the right to extend the parliament when the term is about to expire. This is apolitical, unconstitutional and immoral.

  • We did not bring republicanism, federalism and secularism by ourselves. We don't know from where these agendas were included.
We are going the wrong way. Mistakes should be corrected. Sekhar Koirala.
  • In Britain, Liz Truss, who was earlier saying abolishment of the monarchy, has become the new prime minister.
She visited the Queen at the Scotland Palace before assuming the office. Now she says, “When I spoke against the monarchy in 1994, I was a 'teenager'. And, I was wrong!" Dhruba H. Adhikary Compiled by Sushma Shrestha
