Kathmandu, 1 September: The Nepal Citizenship (First Amendment) Bill 2079 has been submitted to the National Assembly to amend the Citizenship Act passed by the Legislation Management Committee.The senior member of the committee, Narayana Dutt Mishra, submitted the report on the Citizenship Bill, which was passed by the committee on Wednesday by a majority without any amendment.
In the meeting of the committee on Wednesday, the main opposition CPN (UML) MPs Devendra Dahal, Bhagwati Neupane and Bhairsundar Shrestha had noted down differing opinions on some points of the bill. Similarly, law makers Khimlal Devkota and Bimala Rai also shared their concepts in writing regarding the bill.
