BABBLES

By Babbler Education is the reflection of society. Nepali kings believed that they can transform society by educating their people. They have struggled hard for opening educational institutions across the country. When Nepal had no universities and colleges, our students had to go to India for education. King Tribhuvan had a dream to open one university in Nepal. Suddenly, he died. His two queens (wives) had sold their valuable ornaments for establishing the present Tribhuvan University. Dayaram Bhakta Mathema, who served in the Palace as an aide of King Tribhuvan has mentioned it in his memoir published after his death, “Anubhav Ra Anubhati”. He has disclosed many important historical facts in his memoir. Today, Tribhuvan University has become the venue of partisan politics. The University has remained locked up for 300 days in three years. Students are associated with different political parties. Teachers and administrative and management officials belong to different political parties and serve their respective parties instead of giving education to the students. The TU and other government-run universities and colleges have become the venue for producing corrupt political leaders instead of producing cream academicians and experts. How the humble works of the kings have been destroyed, these institutions are an example. The secret of five-party alliance! The five-party alliance has been forged just to rescue corrupt leader and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, according to Dr Milendra Rijal, NC leader. Rijal said that when the then government led by K.P. Sharma Oli decided to finish the political career of Nepal by arresting him on the charge of disposing of the government land, Lalita Niwas in Baluatar, Sher Bahadur Deuba knew about this conspiracy and decided to rescue Nepal. He then decided to forge a five-party alliance, said Rijal. The present set of corrupt leaders is involved in an organized loot and saving each other by suppressing the scandals. The main characteristic of the present alliance government is to institutionalize impunity in society. Prachanda as kingmaker Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda is aware of all the cunning tactics. Prime Minister and Nepali Congress chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, although a tiger by name, is a very weak person. He believes, that without an alliance, NC cannot contest elections. By knowing this weakness, Prachanda’s party has demanded 60 seats in the lower house. On the other hand, NC leaders have alerted Deuba for keeping a minimum of 100 seats for the party. If Maoist Center will contest the election alone, the party will bag hardly 10 seats. The other party Unified Socialist will get zero seats. The other alliance partners are also going to face the same fate. Baburam Bhattarai, knowing his position in the election, has surrendered to the Maoist Center. But Deuba is unable to evaluate the situation. Prachanda has warned Deuba saying that his party will develop an alliance with the UML if NC will discard his party. In fact, if all the parties go for election alone, NC and UML are the big parties and other partners in the ruling alliance are likely to be finished. But the NC and UML leaderships have no vision to understand the reality and the present circumstance has given grounds for Prachanda to become the kingmaker. QUOTES OF THE WEEK
  • The people do not want federalism that needs to be run by foreign loans. The people do not want a provincial structure that sucks the labour and sweat of the Nepali people. The people are not obliged to feed hundreds of parliamentarians, dozens of ministers and their staff. If there is a revolt from people, remember what will happen to you in time.
Omkymar Thapa
  • Last week, Sher Bahadur Deuba inaugurated a top-secret conference on Nepal's foreign policy, which was attended by 38 Indian foreign experts. Pushpa Kamal Dahal concluded the two-day-long conference.
What they cooked in that secret conference, and why they kept the outcome of the conference secret, is a matter of concern among the Nepalis. Mani Sharma
  • How long will the leadership of the country hold the country as a mortgage and take a chair in the loan and pay the interest?

  • In the US, one has to wait for 8 years to get citizenship. In Nepal, one should not wait for one day to get it. Indigenous Tarai people are falling into a minority among the 'new citizens'. And for that, Mahant Thakur and Rajendra Mahato have reached Sheetal Niwas! A strange situation is happening in Nepal.

  • Sensitive issues like citizenship should be decided after a detailed discussion taking into account the long-term effects and should not be regretted by ratifying it in future. Our leaders, in the politics of vote bank, have ratified the bill discarding the long-term impact of such an act with the applause of the 23 MPs.

  • Bullying had exceeded the limit! Balen Shah is right to run a dozer! Should those who break the law talk about the law? A legal battle will eventually go to court and our courtrooms are in shambles. Simply, a stay order will stop all campaigns! Enough is enough!
Laxman Ghimire
  • Those demolished structures had survived many party-affiliated mayors doing nothing. So Balen's achievements imply that we need party-less Swatantras to get things done. Is it the beginning of the end of corrupt parties in Nepal?

  • Ravi Lamichhane is silent on hot topics such as the citizenship bill, Lipulekh, Kalapani, and other border encroachment! He is just criticizing Ba and Oli. How far can he reach from such biased politics?

  • For what should we feel proud? You sell the country's herbs for 1 paisa and buy 10 paisa capsules and eat them. You scold the leaders for entire five years and again at the end you vote for the same leaders. The country’s youths are in the Gulf countries and the remaining youths are running behind the embassies, INGOs and foreign institutions. The country is running from the remittance sent by our youths.

  • Alliance for what? Those who stay in the power center, stay in the security zone to criminally exploit the state's property, and shamelessly do unimaginable things while staying in the security zone saying that they will make the country prosperous are highly punishable. Do you even imagine that the alliance and other ties will be revealed in this year's election?
