Kathmandu, 29 August: A group of NC leaders led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.  They assured the President saying that in the next citizenship ordinance, the party will concentrate on fulfilling the President’s concerns expressed on the citizenship amendment bill.  President Bhandari had expressed her concern about gender quality and granting Nepali citizenship to foreigners married to Nepali nationals.  The bill sent to the President after ratification from both the houses was sent back for reconsideration by parliament.  The bill was again ratified by the lower house and the National Assembly has sent the bill to the statute management committee for a review on it.  PM and NC president Deuba, VP Dhanraj Gurung, general secretary Gagan Thapa, and leader and minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki reached the President’s residence in Sittal Niwas to meet the President.  People’s News Monitoring Service
