
Kathmandu, 28 August: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is not attending the UN General Assembly this year. Earlier, he was supposed to visit the USA and attend the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations. Supreme leaders from the UN member countries are addressing the UNGA from 20 September onward.
Considering the 20 November election, PM Deuba has decided not to attend the UNGA, according to sources. The diplomatic networks in Nepal and the US were preparing the visit schedule of the PM to New York and a formal visit to the USA by visiting Washington DC coinciding with the 77th General Assembly of the UN.
Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka is also reluctant in attending the UNGA as he is focusing on the 20 November election, who to lead the Nepali delegation to the UNGA, has not yet been confirmed.
