BABBLER

By Babbler According to a recent report that appeared in a local media, minister for labour and employment Sher Bahadur Kunwar has asked for election donations for the party with those who have been selected to the post of the departmental chief under the ministry. The selected candidates were astonished by such a demand from the minister. Earlier, another report had appeared that the minister for general administer was demanding election donations from those government officials who were seeking appointments in the local bodies. This Babbler is confused about the duty of a minister that whether his job is to collect a commission or to serve the nation! Indeed, publishing such a report in the media is a serious issue. This is the issue to be investigated by the concerned authorities including the Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Are they listening? Why Pradeep Giri didn’t become a minister? Pradeep Giri died on Saturday night. NC leaders and workers never listen to him when he was alive. After his death, they are trying to portray him as a great human and a socialist leader. The NC never thought of adopting Giri's idea of socialism. Although Giri was an NC by blood, he was not satisfied with the performance of the party leaders. When Girija Prasad Koirala became the prime minister, he called Pradeep Giri and informed him that he was assigned a minister. After this good information, Koirala again asked him to submit a sum of money for the party. When Giri came to know about the donation amount in advance, he rejected the ministerial post, as he had disclosed it in an interview that was published at a time when Koirala was still alive. Finance ministry unaware of Baluatar agreement The Indian Oil Corporation has sent a new tariff on petroleum products by reducing the price. The international price of petroleum products is continuously declining, yet, the Nepal Oil Corporation has stated that it cannot reduce the price of petroleum products as it is already facing a loss worth billions of rupees. Earlier, a meeting of the leaders of the five ruling parties chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had decided to compensate the NOC from the tax amount collected in the name of the infrastructural development fund. Following the decision of the meeting, the Supply Ministry immediately asked the NOC to reduce the price of petroleum products. Now, NOC is saying that it didn't get the compensated amount from the Finance Ministry. The Finance Ministry officials are saying that they are unaware of the five-party agreement. We know the present government is not for giving relief to the commoners but for exploiting them as much as possible. QUOTES OF THE WEEK
  • Genuine Nepalis must get citizenship. Making a Bihari a Nepali is a sin. If I was the commander of the Army, I would have hammered on the head of those leaders of the five parties on the issue of providing citizenship to foreigners.

  • If Congress had not left the 'BP path' and had distributed his book to the villages, today Congress would not have to take the support of those who strangle the necks and break the limbs of the NC workers and leaders to win the election.

  • Our so-called patriotic leaders have already handed over all the important rivers of the country to India. They have already handed over a large portion of our territory to India and now they are preparing grounds to bring the Indians into Nepal just to enjoy power for some period.

  • Within three decades, they sold the Mahakali River, closed down many industries, privatized the public land, and destroyed religion. They became billionaires through corruption and misdeeds, 17000 people were killed, 5 dozen banks were robbed, MCC was ratified and the citizenship amendment bill is ratified. They are making Nepal a foreign colony and Nepalis slaves of foreigners.

  • In the name of “loktantra”, they have developed a syndicate of parties/leaders and all the inconsistencies have become a weapon. As early as 54 years ago, there were signs of the unsuitability of the parliamentary system. Now, we have adopted a system in which one party rarely gets the majority!

  • There was no justification, no facts, no examples in the voice of the parliamentarians who demanded that foreigners be granted marriage-based citizenship. They were just obeying their foreign bosses’ orders!

  • Now, by ignoring the subject of the President's message, constitutionalism has been trampled upon.
The House of Representatives should have been dissolved along with the announcement of the election date. Nilamber Acharya
  • Five people, including Maniram Upadhyay, have filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court regarding the end of the term of Parliament after the announcement of the election date.
An initiative on public concern is welcome. There is no point in creating laws that will affect the country including citizenship in the long term by an 'expired parliament' Dhruba H. Adhikary
  • Is Ramchandra Paudelji true that the present coalition is for protecting the constitution? Will the constitution be protected by forcing the voters of the "tree" symbol to vote for other parties? Is this the language of the Nepali Congress or the leadership or power?

  • My displeasure is not with Pradeep Giri, but with those leaders and workers who have undermined Pradeep's ideals and are walking on the wrong path. But those same people are also competing to shed crocodile tears in his absence today. Hypocrites!

  • A socialist thinker of the Nepali Congress has passed away. Heartfelt tribute!
