Kathmandu, 19 August: The government has handed over the West Seti and Seti-6 reservoir model hydropower projects to the Indian company NHPC Ltd.  In the presence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Kathmandu on 18 August, a memorandum of understanding has been signed. Indian ambassador Navin Srivastav was also present on the occasion.  The MoU was signed by Sushil Bhatta, CEO, Nepal Investment Board and NHPC’s chairman and chief executive Abhayakumar Singh.  NHPC is authorized for the construction of the hydropower projects along with the development of the detailed project report (DPR).  The West Seti Hydropower project can produce 750 MW of electricity, whereas, the Seti-6 can produce 450 MW of electricity.  NHCP has expressed its commitment to completing the projects in time.  Finance Minister Janardan Sharma, Water Resources Minister Pampha Bhushal, Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister Dilendra Badu, Forest and Environment Minister Pradeep Yadav and chief minister of the Suder Paschim Province, Trilochan Bhatt were also present on the occasion.  People's News Monitoring Service
