
Kathmandu, 18 August: The work of the development projects under the grant of the American aid agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will go to the implementation phase after one year.
According to the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Nepal Development Committee, the goal is to start the construction from August 2023 after completing all the preparations for the transmission line and road maintenance under the project.
"We are working with preparations to start the contract process by this year end and go into implementation (entry into force) from August 2023. Environmental and land acquisition and compensation issues will be finalized soon and the contract will be awarded. We will take the process forward.The goal is to be completed within five years from the date of implementation of the project," MCA Nepal Development Committee Executive Director Khadga Bahadur Bista, shared during a press briefing this afternoon.
Under MCA Nepal, a 315 km long 400 KV power transmission line and 3 substations will be constructed. Similarly, 77 kilometers of road maintenance works will be carried out on the road section of the east-west highway in Dang district. Out of the 400 plots required for the construction of the Ratamate substation, most of the land compensation distribution and acquisition work has been completed.
