
Kathmandu, 12 August: Demanding justice, Niharika Rajput, who was on hunger strike in Kathmandu, attempted self-immolation in front of the President's office, Sheetal Niwas. Rajput attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on her body on Friday afternoon on the road in front of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) and the President's office.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Angur GC of Maharajganj Police Circle said that no untoward incident happened as police immediately took her under control. He said that she was sent to the TU Teaching Hospital Maharajganj for a health check-up.
A few months ago, Niharika of Mahottari Jaleshwar Municipality 9, claiming that she was raped by Shivram Shrestha, has been demanding justice. In that sequence, the government agreed with her on five points and broke her fast in the presence of Home Minister Balkrishna Khand but the accused is at large.
