Kathmandu,7 August: It has been revealed that the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has acquitted the chief Minister and Principal Secretaries in the Madhesh Province government's bicycle procurement irregularities and filed a corruption case against only the employees including the Province Secretary. Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut has been spared as he was not directly involved in the decision to purchase bicycles under the 'Beti Padhau, Beti Bachau' (Educate Daughters, Protect Daughters)campaign, while three provincial Chief Secretaries have escaped corruption charges due to delegating authority to subordinates. The CIAA has filed a corruption case against only some employees and suppliers along with Province Secretary Yam Prasad Bhusal by demanding Rs 100.33 million loss incurred to the state due to their corrupt practice.  But the Chief Minister and Province Secretaries above Bhusal were involved in the decision-making process but have not been accused of corruption.
