Katmandu, 29 July: The Cabinet has decided to appoint a person as the chairman of the Film Development Board who was accused of sexual abuse. According to the decision of the Supreme Court, he does not have minimum qualifications to be appointed to that post.
One can be a relative of the Prime Minister and it cannot be considered as the highest qualification but minimum qualification and rank was not required to get a recommendation for promotion of an officer at the Armed Police Force. The Minister of Land Reforms and Law has also appointed a relative as a member of the Cooperative Board by presenting fake documents of experience required for the post.
While taking the oath of office and secrecy, by the Prime Minister and ministers, promise to uphold moral values and government's dignity, on the contrary, they start violating all the limits of dignity and value once they reach Singhdurbar. The previous Prime Minister and his Cabinet members violated laws, rules, moral values and dignity like this and there was a movement against him from the streets to the parliament. The government formed after him was expected to at least follow the legal and moral standards.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's Cabinet has also started to violate all the limits of moral dignity. By appointing a person whose moral character is questionable to a public position, the government has mocked and insulted not only the constitution but also the Nepali society.
Many Nepalis are ashamed to say that those who consider selling state positions at auction or giving bribes to their relatives are their representatives. Likewise, the democratic values institutionalized by the Constitution of Nepal have also been shattered by the behavior and activities of the government.
