
Kathmandu, 26 July: The Election Commission (EC) has spent Rs 5.4 billion on the recently concluded local elections. The commission held a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday and said that out of the Rs 8.11 billion released by the government, Rs 5.4 billion was spent on local elections.
According to the EC, the expenditure is less than the local level election, Provincial Assembly and House of Representative elections of 2074. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapalia informed that the remaining Rs 3 billion 60 million has been returned to the state coffer.
