Kathmandu, 25 July: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's relative Dipendra Kunwar has been recommended to be the first in his batch for the promotion of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Armed Police Force. Kunwar is the brother-in-law of Prime Minister Deuba's personal secretary Bhanu Deuba. Bhanu Deuba is the nephew of Prime Minister Deuba.
The promotion committee meeting held on Friday decided to promote 14 persons from Superintendent of Police (SP) to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). In which Praveen Kandel has been recommended as the first while Kunwar has been recommended for promotion to number two ranking him as number one in his batch.
Being a relative of the Prime Minister is considered as the greatest merit and Kunwar was recommended to be promoted to number one, fueling intense dissatisfaction in the Armed Police Force. The government had amended the Armed Police Regulations 2072 to promote Kunwar, according to reports.
