Kathmandu, 25 July: There was a dispute in the Parliamentary Special Committee on whether to view the call details or not during the investigation into the involvement of unauthorized persons in the budget preparation process by the then Finance Minister Janardan Sharma. The UML parliamentarians in the committee have taken the stand that mobile phone call details should be considered as scientific evidence, while the members of the ruling party are arguing that they should not go in that direction as it would violate the privacy of individuals. UML MPs proposed call details and location tracking in the committee's meeting on Sunday after incomplete CCTV footage provided by the finance ministry and statements by ministry officials did not confirm the entry of unauthorized persons. MPs of the ruling party objected to it. The Maoist MP was loudly presented in the meeting on the stand that call details should not be viewed. A meeting is being held today to discuss this issue, according to a member. People's News Monitoring Service
