Kathmandu, 25 July: The National Assembly today ratified the citizenship amendment bill presented by Home Minister Balkrishna Khand.

The bill was ratified unanimously, however, some members had asked for amendments.

The lower house had ratified the bill on 22 July through a fast track. The bill has addressed the Indian concern about providing Nepali citizenship to foreign nationals.

After approval from the President, the bill will be enforced as the new citizenship law of the country.

The bill has paved the way for obtaining Nepali citizenship easily for foreigners.
