Kathmandu, 21 July: The tenure of the parliamentary special committee formed to investigate former Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma, embroiled in controversy for allowing unauthorized persons to manipulate tax rates in the budget for fiscal year 2022/23 just to favour a handful of business houses and attempting to hide the evidence at midnight on May 29, has been extended for 7 days.
The House of the Representatives endorsed the resolution put forth by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to extend the term of the probe committee. The House, on July 6 had formed a 11-member committee to investigate the issue.
