Kathmandu, 17 July: Ilam’s emerging youth poet Sundar Kurup has bagged this year’s Jasuda Memorial Award.  The Award, a purse worth twelve thousand rupees and a letter of appreciation were handed over to poet Kurup by the chief guest of the function, mayor of the Ilam Municipality, Kedar Thapa at a programme organized on Saturday, 16 July, in Ilam. The Award was distributed amidst a function organised by the Bhanu Pratibha Samrakchan Tatha Sahitya Sambardhan Samiti, Ilam, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of pioneer poet of Nepal Bhanubhakta Acharya. The Samiti is chaired by noted poet Bimal Bidya.   The Award has been established in the name of senior journalist late Jasuda Khaki Pradhan, managing editor of the People's Review Weekly, who was from Ilam.  Noted intellectual Yuddha Prasad Baidhya and chair of the Ilam Municipality Art and Literature Academy, Tika Ghimire had shed light about the Award.  Poet Prakash Thamsuhang gave an introduction about poet Kurup.  Guest at the programme, Lila Anmol had cited poems on the occasion.  The programme was attended by local literary personalities, social workers, government officials and representatives of different social organizations.
