By Our Reporter  The Election Commission has started compiling the electoral roll online in three districts of the Kathmandu Valley from Wednesday. Issuing a statement on Tuesday, EC’s Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel informed that the commission has prepared a ‘Web-based Voter List Pre-registration System’ to collect voters' names along with photos online. The EC has decided to start the pilot operation in three districts of the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur) from Wednesday, said Poudel. “Eligible Nepali citizens who have not yet registered their names in voter’s list along with photos can visit the EC’s official website www.election.gov.np and fill online application and submit their personal details to the Election Offices of three districts,” said Poudel. After completing the process, one has to visit the election office of their respective district to take a photo and give a thumbprint, along with the print copy of the code number mentioned in the online form and other necessary documents, the statement added. The EC decided to introduce the online system to compile the electoral roll at a time when the people have complained that they have to wait for hours to register their names on the voters' list. The Election Commission (EC) began compiling the electoral roll in mid-June for the federal and provincial elections proposed to be held in the third week of November this year.
